Job Description Post: Independent Non-Executive Director (Specialism in Further Education and Apprenticeships)
Term: 2 Years, due to commence in Spring 2021
Remuneration: £7,000 per annum
About the Role The Association is looking for an Independent Non-Executive Director with a specialism in Further Education, particularly in Apprenticeships, to offer strategic direction and bring industry experience to the Board
of the Association. This individual will become a Director of both Credit Services Association Limited and CSA (Services) Ltd and will serve on both Boards. Applications are sought from senior business or educational figures with significant
experience of the current reformed Apprenticeships and Technical Education environment. Applicants must have the time and skills to contribute across a range of the Association’s strategic and governance issues. Experience of developing and implementing
apprenticeship/accredited programmes strategy into organisations would be a key advantage.
The successful candidate will be expected to attend all CSA and CSA (Services) Ltd Board meetings, plus the AGM and two CSA conferences, plus additional internal and external meetings with stakeholders or events as a representative of the organisation
and contribute to board proceedings as required. We expect this to equate to roughly two days a month however flexibility is required.
Essential criteria
- A successful candidate will have the following essential criteria:
- Exceptional leadership skills, with experience of working at board level;
- Significant experience within apprenticeships and further education, and current knowledge of Ofsted and Funding Rules guidance;
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to influence and engage industry stakeholders;
- Proven ability to drive cultural change, with a track record of delivering outstanding results;
- A proven track record of commanding respect from employers of apprentices, both big and small, at a senior level;
- An understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by employers and apprenticeship providers;
- A strong background in regulatory work, with the ability to provide sufficient challenge on regulatory effectiveness and compliance.
Desirable criteria
- Experience within financial services or compliance.

The CSA also became an approved Apprenticeship Training Provider in 2017, specialising in the delivery of apprenticeship training in Credit and Collections, and Compliance and Risk. Our apprenticeship training is designed and delivered by a team of Financial
Services, Risk and Compliance training and coaching professionals, who combine extensive industry knowledge and understanding with highly developed training, coaching and assessment expertise. CSA apprenticeships are available across England for apprenticeship
levy and non-levy paying employers.
