Collector Accreditation Initiative – setting the benchmark for collections compliance

Credit Services Association (CSA), the UK trade body for the collections and debt purchase sector, developed the Collector Accreditation Initiative (CAI) online test as an affordable way to assess debt collectors’ knowledge and scope of understanding of compliance, enabling firms to mitigate regulatory risks and uphold the highest standards of the CSA Code of Practice.

The assessment examines the knowledge and competencies required to perform the role of a professional collector and is suitable for collections agents, collections team leaders and management, collections coaches and trainers, and those in audit/quality roles.

Once passed (at pass, merit, or distinction level), the individual is granted CAI accreditation for 12 months. ‘Company Accreditation’ is also available to firms which have 80% of their collectors accredited at any one time.

In 2021 the content and difficulty level of the exam questions was updated to reflect the increasingly complex regulatory environment.

Key benefits:

  • Highly cost effective means of mitigating compliance risk
  • Excellent user experience and in-depth reporting to identify risk factors and training needs at an individual level
  • Monitor progress and gain insight into risk factors related to knowledge and skills of collectors
  • Regularly updated in line with regulatory changes
  • Demonstrate commitment to compliance excellence throughout your organisation to clients, customers, and wider stakeholders
  • Use reporting insights on internal risk & control registers
  • Run more than one assessment per year to ensure compliance competence is maintained and run multiple tests until pass is achieved
  • Anonymously benchmark your employees and organisation against industry competitors
  • Opportunities to feedback and input into content and features
  • Support with integrating into wider L&D strategy, including apprenticeships
