Court fees for money claims rise
The following update from Optima Legal covers the approval by The House of Lords of The Civil Proceedings and Family Proceedings Fees (Amendment) Order 2015. As a result increases in some civil court fees, as discussed below, came into force on Monday 9 March 2015.
Extract from update:
Originally anticipated to come into force on 1 March 2015, The Civil Proceedings and Family Proceedings Fees (Amendment) Order 2015 was expected to take effect in April 2015. Following House of Lords approval on 4 March, this date has now been revised and is likely to be as early as Monday 9 March 2015. The Order will mean yet another increase in court fees payable upon issuing claims to recover money.
Court fees for issuing proceedings for a monetary value of between £0 and £10,000 will not change. For claims of £10,000 or more, however, the new fees will be equal to 5% of the value of the claim, with a maximum fee of £10,000. Any interest claimed on the debt will be taken into consideration when calculating the fee payable.
